One reason, I submit, is that with little access to the classically great wines, yet with a public thirst for greatness that far exceeds that of 30 years ago, importers, distributors, sommeliers and consumers themselves have been compelled to seek out wines that nobody paid attention to 25 years ago, if they even existed.

The 09 will be delicious. Francois says its between 2000 and 2005 in style, which must be a good thing.

The 05 is imminent (it has already shipped I think).

What are your thoughts on the ’09 Caronne? Francois kindly sent us a barrel sample which we opened in Dorchester on Saturady. I found it quite hard to judge such a young wine. It did seem to have more weight and a riper profile than the ’04. Agree with you that the ’00 is delicious at the moment. Sadly down to my last bottle at home! looking forward to the ’05 Caronne arriving in store. Quite soon I hear?
